Fauna Quest for the Evergreen Tree Chapter 5
Fauna, Quest For the Evergreen Tree Chapter 5
Rowen gasped as a silver and blue dragon soared over them, chasing the blue dragon was a ruby red dragon with gold accents. Fauna frowned as she saw the red dragon detour toward the palace, it must have noticed the silver shining domes that were decorations for the king's flourishing garden. Fauna reached for her bow but Rowen pushed her hand away from the bow.
"Those arrows will not pierce dragon hide, only arrows carved from the wood of the Evergreen tree can pierce through its scales."
Fauna frowned.
"The Evergreen Tree is a myth, we need to get rid of that dragon before it scorches everything."
Rowen pulled out an arrow from his satchel, Fauna hadn't noticed the tattered brown leather bag that he had reached into. He had an arrow its shaft was pure white and the tip glowed and looked sharp enough to slice a watermelon by just touching it.
"This is not a myth." Fauna's eyes widened.
"Is that?"
Rowen smirked.
"Take your aim."
Fauna hesitantly closed her fingers around the shaft and nocked the arrow, she took aim and released. The arrow flew through the air and pierced the dragon's side. The dragon let out a cry of pain and looked straight at Fauna, it's golden eyes narrowed in anger, and it dove toward her. Rowen picked up the stunned Fauna and ran through the forest, looking for some shelter from the fiery blast that was about to rain down upon them. He fled to the mountains, but the dragon was right above them, glaring down. it opened it's mouth and, darkness. That's all that the two elves could remember. Fauna's eyes flickered open, the silver and blue dragon sat in front of them. Head tilted to one side.
"Greetings young one." It said, Fauna didn't know how she understood what it was saying, but she could. "You, can talk?" asked Fauna staring at the dragon, The dragon looked confused.
"Speak in my language young one, I do not speak the language of elves." Fauna was stunned, she couldn't speak dragon, could she? Fauna opened her mouth. and to her surprise, the words that came from her lips were not that of the elves. "Where are we?" The dragon seemed to smile.
"In the land of Everlast." Fauna sat up and looked around, the air was cold and they were in a stone cave. Near her was a mountain of jewels, and assorted precious metals. "But, Everlast is a myth!" cried Fauna shaking from her excitement. "Is the Evergreen tree also a myth?" asked the dragon, confused. Fauna nodded and then shook her head. "Yes, I mean, No. I don't know!" The dragon nodded solemnly. "It is no myth, but it is still quite a journey from Everlast." Fauna looked into the dragon's beautiful crystal blue eyes. "Do you have a name?" asked Fauna, smiling. The dragon nodded. "My name is Erithna, the red dragon's name is Raketh." Fauna gasped. Raketh, was the king of dragons, the evilest and horrible of them all. "Why was he after you?" Erithna frowned. "Because I am his daughter."
